Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Halool Mohammed, the College's Department of Pathological Analyses organised a training course entitled "How to Use the ELISA Device" on Thursday, 10 April 2025, with the aim of developing the teaching staff's skills in using ELISA technology in laboratory tests. The course was presented by (Asst. Lect. Rana Warid Mayea, Asst. Lect. Duha Kadhim, Asst. Lect. Mustafa Kareem)
The course covered two main parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part included a detailed explanation of the ELISA technique (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), its types, working principle and uses in measuring the concentrations of biomolecules such as antibodies, bacterial antigens and hormones.
The practical part focused on how to operate the ELISA device, the steps for performing the test, plotting the standard curve and deriving the concentration values of the measured samples, in addition to the applications of this technique in detecting immune reactions and measuring the binding efficiency between antibodies and antigens.
The course aimed to raise the efficiency of the teaching staff and develop their skills in modern laboratory techniques, contributing to enhancing the quality of education and training and supplying the applied side of the scientific programmes with the latest skills and techniques.
