A Faculty Member from the University of Shatrah Obtains a Doctorate in Media from Belgorod University

Asst. Lect. Salah Salman Sukkar, a faculty member at the University of Shatrah, obtained a doctorate in media from Belgorod University – Russia, for his dissertation entitled: “Media Representation in the Russian Media”.

The dissertation was defended before a specialised scientific committee (Kandidat) comprising more than ten professors of media.

The study analysed how Iraq is represented in the Russian media, relying on the methodology of media content analysis, with a focus on the repercussions of this representation for the image of Iraq in Russian public opinion.

The dissertation aimed to provide an in-depth academic reading that contributes to enhancing understanding of media relations between Iraq and Russia, and to highlight the role of the media in shaping mutual impressions between peoples and states.

This scientific achievement is considered a qualitative addition for the University of Shatrah, contributing to enriching the Iraqi academic field with sound studies that strengthen its standing in the fields of media research.
