The College of Veterinary Medicine / University of Shatrah held the defence of the master's thesis entitled:

(Diagnosis of Pathogenic Klebsiella of the Urinary Tract)

by the student Naba Dakhil Hteet of the Branch of Microbiology, on Thursday 25 September 2025.

The study addressed bacterial urinary tract infections affecting pregnant women, and aimed to isolate and diagnose Klebsiella bacteria causing these infections.

The student collected 150 samples from hospitals and health centres in the governorate, which were examined microscopically using Gram stain to detect Gram-negative bacteria.

The results showed that:

• The age group (18–27) years was the most affected, at 57.93%.

• The third trimester of pregnancy recorded the highest infection rate, at 44.44%.

• Klebsiella bacteria were the most frequently isolated within the said age group, at 60%.

After an extensive scientific discussion of the thesis topic, and in view of the student's demonstrated ability to defend her research, the examination committee awarded the student the grade of “Excellent”.
