On the morning of Monday, 24 November 2025, the College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Shatrah held the defence of the master's thesis of the student Taghreed Rustam Muhsin, entitled:

«Evaluation of mRNA Gene Expression of Interferon Gamma and Interleukin-2 in Women Suffering from Recurrent Miscarriage Caused by Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV)»

The study aimed to detect HCMV in women with recurrent miscarriage and to study its effect on the key immune cytokines associated with pregnancy stability. The results showed that the presence of the virus may adversely affect pregnancy through immune changes that can be adopted as indicators for early diagnosis and preventive intervention.

Following a thorough scientific discussion, the thesis was approved with a grade of Excellent, in recognition of the student's efforts in defending her research.
