The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Girls organises a training course on pathological analyses

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Al-Ghazi,
and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Girls, Prof. Dr. Afrah Abd Maktouf,
the Department of Biology organised an intensive training course entitled “Pathological Analyses”, which lasted three days, from Tuesday to Thursday (28–29–30 October 2025), with the participation of a group of students and faculty members.

The course was presented by:

  • Lect. Dr. Ruaa Mohammed Jabbar

  • Asst. Lect. Marwa Amer Jaleel
and moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hassan Sahib.

The course aimed to develop the students' practical and cognitive skills in the field of pathological analyses and to introduce them to the fundamentals of proper laboratory work.

The first day included practical training in blood drawing (Phlebotomy), covering the basics of drawing blood, the requirements of the procedure, and the types of tubes and samples.

The second day dealt with blood group determination (Blood Grouping), in which the students carried out the practical steps of determining blood groups in an educational laboratory setting.

On the third day, the students learned about the types of blood sugar tests (Blood Glucose Tests) and the basics of interpreting their results, and were trained practically in measuring blood sugar and blood pressure (Blood Pressure Measurement), given the health importance of these two skills in daily life.

The organisers of the course affirmed that these applied activities aim to strengthen the practical side of the biology specialisation and develop students' skills in a real laboratory environment, contributing to preparing qualified staff to work in educational and medical laboratories in the future.
