Under the patronage of the President of the University of Shatrah, Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Hussein Jarallah, under the supervision and direct follow-up of the Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Dr. Safaa Hussein Ali, and stemming from the academic vision aimed at raising the level of students' linguistic competences and communication skills, the Department of English Language at the College of Education, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a specialised scientific course in English entitled:

Developing Communication Skills for EFL Learners
(Developing Communication Skills for Learners of English as a Foreign Language)

This course was part of the effort to enhance the communicative competence of learners of English and equip them with the tools of effective linguistic interaction in academic and educational settings, as well as to develop skills in the functional use of the language according to the modern methods and strategies adopted in teaching English to non-native speakers, thereby contributing to raising the students' linguistic and cognitive performance and strengthening their ability to keep pace with contemporary academic standards.
The course also addressed a number of scientific themes related to developing the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, highlighting the role of linguistic communication in building the academic personality and developing learners' thinking skills and scientific interaction.
The course was delivered by a select group of the department's faculty members, namely:
1- Lect. Dr. Tahseen Ali Ahmed
2- Asst. Lect. Warkaa Awad Aliwi

This initiative is part of a series of scientific and developmental activities adopted by the University and the college in support of the quality of university education, the strengthening of the academic environment and the development of linguistic and cognitive skills, in keeping with the requirements of modern scientific development and the needs of scientific research and the labour market.
